Who you are

As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in performing duties to disassemble, inspect, repair, assemble, perform welding and test Welded Heat Exchanger products to bring them up to specification standards. You will have the opportunity to support our Service Center, contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization. Currently, this is an on-site position based in Houston, Texas, for our 2nd shift from 2 pm to 10:30 pm.

As a part of the team, you will:

  • Set-up and operate manual, semi-automatic and automatic welding equipment as required for TiG, MiG, arc, air arc, plasma transferred welding and fusing operations.
  • Adhere to welding trade practices to layout, fit, level, align and weld parts.
  • Select proper welding tips, rods, wire and amperage.
  • Execute repairs according to specifications or an advanced repair task.
  • Performs housekeeping as required at the facility to maintain a professional presentation - 5S.
  • Perform daily safety tasks (i.e. daily forklift inspections, under hook chain/sling inspections.
  • Assist in performing equipment receipt, uncrate, clean and strip units.
  • Assist in opening, complete disassembly, prepping, reassembly and testing customer equipment as needed.
  • Utilize pneumatic, power, hydraulic and hand tools to complete tasks.
  • Assist in cleaning hardware, chasing threads, and installing hardware as needed.
  • Dye penetration inspection process - Hand clean areas to be inspected, clean dye areas, rinse remaining dye from plates, liners and nozzles.
  • Move material as needed via forklifts, overhead cranes, mobile tables, hand trucks, etc.
  • Recognize and communicates the need for replenishment of supplies.
  • Active and positive participation in production meetings and improvement initiatives.
  • Perform work other related tasks as required.

You are willing to develop knowledge and understanding of Alfa Laval processes and procedures and to share knowledge and support in competence development.

What you know:

You have a High School degree or equivalent with relevant experience, and:
  • 3 years of experience in manual repair/workshop/manufacturing environment
  • Experience operating forklift trucks, hand pallet jacks and overhead cranes
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Welding certifications are a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complicated blueprints, drawings, sketches and work instructions
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated good punctuality and work ethic
  • Demonstrated ability and engagement to diagnose mechanical problems and propose solutions
  • Basic computer knowledge and MS office suite (clocking in and out, scanning bar codes, etc.)
