Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for the analysis, modeling, specification of extract logic, testing, documentation, and maintenance of database structures developed to support enterprise-wide data warehousing and reporting objectives. The employee is responsible for creating and maintaining information reports to all levels of the organization as well as external users.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Works with end users to analyze, design, develop, and document subject area databases/tables within the data warehouse and enterprise data mart. This includes requirements gathering and analysis, as well as understanding business processes.
  • Participates throughout project life cycles, from planning to production implementation, with emphasis on business and data requirements and follow-through to production. Includes facilitating design sessions, writing detailed table design and extract specifications.
  • Documents data structures and technical Information.
  • Document business requirements based on user needs.
  • Queries data in source systems to understand and create extract specifications and structures.
  • Data support for data warehouse and reporting. This includes designing, testing, implementing, and documenting extract programs and database objects consistent with business specifications, complying with standards and customer requirements.
  • Data file management, performance monitoring/tuning, and security setup.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operational support of the data warehouse ensuring data integrity, database availability, and performance. Responsible for creating new reports and multi-dimensional ad-hoc analysis views (cubes).
  • Test and reconcile data to source systems and business/data specifications.
  • Support and maintain productions systems. Data server support and monitoring. Communicate with DBA's and/or programmers to find integrated solutions to daily problems.
  • Develop and maintain Workday reports (advanced, matrix, composite, BIRT) utilizing Workday Report Writer and Prism
  • Design and develop accurate dashboards to enhance operations and provide leadership the ability to make strategic decisions
  • Develop and maintain simple to complex reports, including matrix and composite reports, utilizing Workday Report Writer, Report Designer and Prism, as well as other organizational tools and available technologies.
  • Develop complex calculated fields, maintaining the standards and integrity of the data.
  • Collaborate with others on design and implementation to construct and manage multiple datasets from various sources to incorporate into analytical and predictive reporting solutions for Workday Student, Workday Financials, and Workday HCM.
  • Develop and modify reporting solutions for Workday Student, Workday Financials, and Workday Human Capital Management (HCM).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to outline requirements for reports and dashboards.
  • Partner with Workday Security to ensure appropriate access to reporting solutions.
  • Train stakeholders on Workday reporting functions and available reporting solutions.
  • Work with FVTC leadership to determine reporting strategies for Key Performance Indicators.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide education and training to staff as well as providing assistance to other technical colleges and the State Office.
  • Maintain enhancements to the product (backups, installations and upgrades).
  • Provide expertise in the resolution of source system data problems affecting day-to-day operations of the data warehouse.

Administrative and functional supervision is received from the Manager of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate Degree in Software Development or related area, AND
  • Four to six years of Data Analysis, Data Warehousing, and Reporting Experience
  • Three years of programming and advanced Workday reporting experience, preferably in finance, OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of system design, development techniques, and Microsoft business intelligence software, is required.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing/decision support concepts and usage, and data modeling tools.
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft SQL Server environments and Windows operating systems.
  • Advanced skill in MS Office Suite (i.e., spreadsheets, word processing, charting tools, database).
  • Certifications in the following Workday training: Report Writer, Advanced Report Writer, Calculated Fields, Report Designer (BIRT), Prism Analytics

Additional Information

Pay Rate: $30.72 per hour.

Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data. Note: Internal applicants' wage will be based upon the applicable compensation guidelines.
